Plan Your Visit to Pompeii

About Pompeii

Pompeii is an expansive archaeological site in the Campania region of Southern Italy. It was once a thriving Roman city but in 79 AD, after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius this vibrant city and its inhabitants disappeared overnight and was buried under several layers of ash and pumice.

It was back in 1594 that excavations led to the discovery of buildings, coins, inscriptions and other remnants of that once thriving Roman city of Pompeii. Visiting these ruins takes you back in time and the layers of ash have actually helped in preserving the site, its structures, artworks and many other artifacts.

The best time to visit Pompeii is from April to October when the weather is pleasant, and you can get mesmerized by the amazing structures, the careful planning and the beauty of the whole city with ease. Tickets and information on how to reach Pompeii are easily available and booking tickets in advance is the best way to go.
